This is a hidden gem run with love and happiness!! Zaimokuza has beyond amazing speciality coffee and food that perfectly matches the warmth of its owners, Kodai and Eli! They are Japanese, but speak great English and go above and beyond to make anyone feel welcome (even handling a baggage shipment ahead of our stay). After travelling a lot between Hiroshima and Tokyo, Zaimokuza Specialty Coffee (especially the bamboo charcoal!) ranks among the best we've had in Japan and often cute dogs are visiting because it’s puppy friendly! The AirBNB accommodation is also simply stunning showing off a blend of traditional and modern Japanese architecture. Spacious large rooms, high ceilings, and a walk-in wardrobe, make it perfect for any traveller but especially families or those with lots of baggage. I couldn’t recommend it more—a must visit and essential accommodation especially for groups staying 3+ days in Kamakura, also just a short train ride from Tokyo or Kyoto!

Coffee shop is amazing and the owners are very friendly and kind people. They also gifted me a souvenir from their coffee shop and showed me around the beautiful bonsai garden.

We had a great experience at Zaimokuza! The hosts were lovely and patient with us being tourists. The breakfast set was tasty and fresh, and the ice coffee was fantastic. The hosts were kind enough to gift us a set of coasters which was extremely kind. Thank you from New Zealand!

Great place to hunker down in a residential area near the beach. Even better when sharing space with residential friendly canine companions who frequent this spot as regulars with their owners. The charcoal coffee was deep, but not overly bitter and didn’t leave any harsh aftertastes which was pleasantly surprising.

Such a nice cafe with super nice owners, and a hidden bonsai backyard! Charcoal coffee and toast plate are great breakfast options. We just visited the shop before heading back to Tokyo and the owner gave us two wooden mug holders as gifts. A beautiful memory from Kamakura :)
